Full House, Burwood East.

The Location:

Interior Design in Burwood East, Melbourne.

The Brief:

In late 2021, my client approached me seeking guidance for her brand-new construction project. The stunning Hamptons-inspired home stood empty, awaiting a comprehensive Interior Design Service. Our meticulous attention to detail encompassed every aspect, from walls and floors to window treatments, cabinetry, lighting, furniture, and decor.

Careful consideration was given to every element, from the selection of paint colours to custom-fit furniture and joinery, right down to the choice of tea coasters, ensuring a personalised touch for my client. Despite facing setbacks during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, this project took approximately 1.5 years to complete. The wait, however, proved worthwhile, resulting in a truly spectacular finish that exceeded all expectations.

The Process:

When embarking on projects of this magnitude, my initial approach is to truly understand and connect with my clients. Spending quality time with them allows me to gain deep insights into their preferences and aspirations.  Through collaborative discussions and a thorough understanding of my client’s needs, I commenced the design process for this Hamptons-style home.

A harmonious colour palette of Whites, Blues, and Greys, with hints of Black and Greenery, sets the tone for this residence. The downstairs walls were adorned with a warm Grey hue, while the upstairs was left White to create a softer ambience. Feature walls were introduced in the two girls’ bedrooms and master bedroom, while a Duck Egg Blue ceiling in the study was chosen to enhance the perception of spaciousness.

Window treatments played a pivotal role in achieving a luxurious and cozy atmosphere throughout the home. Each space was carefully planned to optimise natural light and privacy. Plantation shutters were selected for windows visible from the street, serving as a clear feature of a true Hamptons-style home. Sheer and block-out curtains were strategically incorporated in other areas, minimising unnecessary expenses. A motorised shutter was installed on the staircase window for convenient access.

Thoughtful custom joinery was added to the laundry, introducing a subtle touch of Blue in the upper cabinetry doors. A beautiful window seat with a custom seat cushion was crafted in the expansive master bedroom, filling the space elegantly (did you notice the custom bedframe too? It’s 1.7m tall!). Additionally, a fully wraparound desk with ample storage was incorporated into a small study area adjacent to one of the kids’ bedrooms.

To maintain the Hamptons style, I infused elements inspired by the beach, such as artwork, sea urchin decor, rustic wood pieces (including the dining set), ironwork in select lighting fixtures, and crisp white linens. Each room possesses its own distinct character while remaining harmonious through the repetition of colour palettes, themes, or greenery.

Google Review:

“Lucky for me, to have found Tracey to be my interior designer for my new house in Burwood East. She is undoubtedly professional but much more than that. She’s so talented, creative and efficient with the work she carries out. She is very organised, communicative and sweet. She chose the perfect furniture, lighting, and decor and even had some pieces specifically designed for my Hamptons home which my family and I love so much. She contacted and managed dozens of cabinet suppliers to find the most suitable one for our joinery work. She designed storage for the laundry, a beautiful window seat with storage for my master bedroom and a clever study space for my daughter. She picked all of the feature colours for my walls and helped with my window treatments too (shutters and sheers). She even custom-made a succulent centrepiece for my dining table by herself, because she couldn’t find her idea in a normal store. She listened to all of my needs, and implemented everything. It was a complete pleasure to work with her.
